It's official, Josiah is registered for school, our baby is going to "big" school starting in September. Where have the years gone???? It's kind of like when I heard Miriam Green was turning 50; I remember being at her 40th birthday party and that couldn't have been 10 years ago. . . but it was! Happy Birthday Miriam:) I signed Josiah up for 1st grade at Saint Kliment School, the equivalent of kindergarten in the States. His new school is located at the top of the hill and overlooks the lake and the city, a most beautiful view. There are no roads right at the school and plenty of space to run and play without the worry of traffic. The gym is a good size and we have already spotted the climbing ropes that look like something a young man with lots of energy will find interesting. They even informed us that each child gets to use a laptop in class, imagine using a computer for something other that video games! All the faculty that I met seemed very nice and strongly encourage parental involvement. He will go from 8:00am till 12:00pm but can stay until 3 or 4 and work on language and homework. We will probably have him stay so he can get help with his Macedonian.
We walked up to the school today and he seemed to like what he saw. He asked if he could stay and play in the gym but we assured him he would get to do that soon enough. He met one of the after-school teachers but was to shy to say anything to her. Some of the kids tried to talk to him but he hid behind his daddy. He just needs some time and a little space to warm up to them. He was like that the first time he went to the Red Cross for English story time and now he goes right in and loves it. Josiah is well. . . Josiah and he just has to do things in his own timing and own way.
